Verge, a permanent sculpture commissioned by TASIS The American School in England

In celebration of TASIS England’s visual and performing arts programme, I was commissioned to create a vibrant work for permanent outdoor display in the arts area of campus.

Two curving forms meet at two points with a lively interplay of lines, colours, edges and spaces. This work explores space, surface, shape and motion. While the forms suggest leaning and bending, the heavy steel is very solid. The colours and in-between spaces bring a sense of lightness and dynamism to the work. Inspired by the artist’s interest in geometric forms and dance, this work seeks to convey a tension between simplicity and intricacy; slightness and heaviness.
