The Art of the Notebook Workshop
Saturday 28 September 10am-1:30pm - £40 per participant (max 6)
The Beach, 197 Waldegrave Road, Teddington
Join the artists for a workshop exploring notebooks as a powerful space for inquiry. Inspired by the evolution and history of the notebook, we will learn about the many ways a notebook can be used as a space to record, document, investigate, process and reflect.
This three and a half hour session (including a 20 minute coffee break) will cover a variety of user-friendly approaches to starting and keeping a notebook/sketchbook which will encourage creative thinking, exploration and experimentation. The workshop will take place in the gallery with a maximum of 6 participants.
Bring your own notebook! We will provide various media for drawing, print and collage.
Participants will be introduced to drawing practices involving observation & imagination. Through low-stakes writing activities, we will explore note-taking as creative process and tool for reflection.
We will look at examples from the a history of ‘Thinking on Paper’ and how artists, scientists, thinkers and many more have used notebooks.
Through making, thinking and discussion, we will explore ways to integrate a notebook into everyday life.
